JSP leaders move SC seeking reinstatement of parliamentarian status

KATHMANDU: Four Lumbini Province lawmakers of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), who lost their seat in Lumbini Province Assembly (PA) following party action last month, have filed a writ at the Supreme Court (SC) Sunday urging the Apex Court to reinstate their PA member status.

The four incumbent Ministers in Lumbini who filed the writ are Santosh Pandey, Bijay Yadav, Suman Sharma and Kalpana Pandey.

The four had joined Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel’s government immediately after they signed a no-confidence motion against CM Pokharel. The party took action against them for disobeying the party command.

They registered the writ as SC is allowing filing writs and has been conducting hearings on cases related to constitutional interpretation and fundamental rights, among others.

They have asked the SC to annul the decision of Lumbini PA and reinstate their PA member status.
