Dhangadhi Stars introduces two foreign players



KATHMANDU: The Dhangadhi Stars has introduced two foreign players in the club in view of the Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL), the cricket tournament kicking off next week.

The event has scheduled to be held in Dhangadhi from February 9 to 23. Rohan Mustafa, the caption of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) national cricket team; and Sagar Trivedi of India have agreed to take part in the tournament representing the Dhangadhi Stars.
All-rounder Mustafa has the experiences of playing in 27 one-day internationals and 25 T-20 international matches for the UAE’s national team while Trivedi was shortlisted to play the 2015 Indian Premier League from the Rajasthan Royals. He is also an all-rounder.
The club has appointed all-rounder Sompal Kami as the marquee player and other cricketers playing for the club in the DPL are Pawan Sarraf, Dipesh Shrestha, Saurabh Khanal, Bipin Khatri, Hari Bahadur Chauhan, Amit Shrestha, Raju Rijal, Robin Chhetri, Sunil Dhamala, Sandeep Rajali and Dhiraj Shahi. The tournament is based on the T-20 model and a total of 19 matches will be held.
During the league, each team will play five matches in round-robin format and the teams securing their places in the top 4 will be qualified for the Playoffs. The league remains as the cricket event with the highest amount of cash prize. The first and second seasons of the league held in 2017 and 2018 were won by the Chauraha Dhangadhi.
