President and PM should be tried for crime against nation: Dr. Bhimarjun Acharya

KATHMANDU: Constitutionalist Dr. Bhimarjun Acharya has demanded a special session of parliament to take action against President Bidyadevi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Oli alleging the latter had committed a crime against state.

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s refusal to ‘swear in’ as per the word in the swearing sheet designed in accord with the spirit of the Constitution, constitutionist Dr. Acharya argued, on his Saturday Twitter, that the President and the Prime Minister should be tried for their ‘crime against state.’

During the swearing in ceremony yesterday, PM Oli had skipped some words the President read out and later had said they need not be read out when the president repeated the same words.

Listening to the PM’s ‘indecent’ reply the President had giggled and continued reading out the rest.

“The President and the Prime Minister should be tried on treason against the nation for mocking the constitution and the nation,” Dr. Acharya said.

He has demanded to convene a special session of the parliament immediately and take action.
