JSP’s Yadav-Bhattarai faction calls central executive committee meeting

Likely to take action against Thakur-Mahato group

KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has called a central executive committee meeting on Saturday.

The Yadav-Bhattarai faction of the JSP has called the meeting after the Thakur-Mahato group appointed senior leader Rajendra Mahato as the parliament party leader on Thursday, said central executive committee member Istiyak Rai.

“Works have been executed in violation of the party statute. The meeting has been called to dwell on these issues,” said Rai, adding, “The meeting will take action against those who breached the party statue.”

The JSP had been divided over the confidence motion floated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on May 10.

Yadav-Bhattarai faction had voted against Prime Minister Oli while 15 lawmakers of Thakur-Mahato group had remained neutral during the voting.

The central executive committee of the JSP has a total of 51 members.
