US Senator Markey says US must share surplus vaccine to Nepal, India

KATHMANDU: US Senator Edward John Markey, who chairs House subcommittees on Renewable Energy, Climate and Nuclear Security, said the United States should produce more vaccines to make them available to the world, including Nepal.

Sharing a New York Times World’s news concerning Nepal on Twitter Thursday, the Senator tweeted that US should share surplus vaccines, step up aid efforts and scale up vaccine manufacturing to meet the need of Nepal and India, among other countries, as it is recovering from the coronavirus pandemic.

US House Foreign Affairs Committee had also discussed Nepal’s Covid situation Thursday. US lawmakers agreed that they should immediately assist Nepal from their missions.

Senator Markey also looks after senate affairs on East Asia and the Pacific.
