NC office bearers’ meeting underway at Budhanilakantha

Leaders discussing government formation



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) office-bearers is underway at President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilakantha to make a decision on majority government formation.

Party President Deuba had called a meeting of the party office bearers after holding talks with Janata Sanajbadi Party (JSP) Chairman Mahanta Thakur and senior leader Rajendra Mahato at his residence this morning.

Nepali Congress has been taking the initiative to form a government under its leadership. It has until 9 pm Thursday to stake claim for government formation.

Meanwhile, it has been learned that the Mahanta-Rajendra faction of the JSP, too, has taken initiative to form a government under its leadership. A JSP leader said that Thakur and Mahato proposed the idea with Deuba in today’s meeting.

Meanwhile, earlier today, NC President Deuba held talks with Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on government formation at the former’s residence in Budhanilakantha.
