DOTI: Local levels of Doti district have not been able to construct isolation and quarantine facilities to keep the people returned to their hometown from India.

Locals are annoyed saying the seven local levels including two municipalities of the district have not constructed isolation and quarantine at a time when the number of coronavirus cases has been increasing.

Kiran Bhandari of Dipayal Silgadhi municipality-5 said that though the Purbichauki rural municipality of the district has constructed isolation, the other seven local levels have not constructed isolation and quarantine yet.

He added the people’s representatives have not paid any attention to constructing isolation and quarantine even if coronavirus cases are on the rise in the district.

Health workers said that number of coronavirus is increasing in the district day by day as people returned from India enter their villages directly in lack of quarantine.

Number of Doti folks entering the district from different places of the country as well as the neighboring country, India, is increasing every day. There is no data of people entering the district from different places of the country as well as India.

Although the District Administration Office has requested those returned from India to stay in home quarantine, India returnees are found moving around freely in the villages.

Another local Ram Bahadur Bista shared that there is a high risk of coronavirus in villages of the district as none of the local levels have kept the record of those entering the district.

People’s representatives of the district, who performed an active role in the management of those who entered from India as well as other countries last year, are now seen as passive this year.

According to the District Health Officer, the district has around 300 active coronavirus cases in the district in the recent period. Of them, 283 are on home isolation and 12 are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital. A total of five succumbed to Covid-19.

Health workers said that problems have surfaced as some of the India returnees do not visit the hospital even after falling ill as well as suffering from fever and they do not inform anyone about it.
