KATHMANDU: Three opposition parties have urged the President to issue an invitation for the formation of a majority government.
After PM Oli lost the trust vote in parliament Monday, the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center) and Janata Samajbadi Party have issued a joint statement in this regard.
The joint statement has been signed by NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kama Dahal and JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav.
Maoist Center chief whip Dev Gurung said the three opposition forces had about 126 votes and there was a possibility for a majority coalition government.
They have urged to initiate the process to form a new government under article 72 (b) of the constitution.
The post of Prime Minister has been vacated with the PM KP Oli losing the vote of confidence sought as per article 100 (c) of the constitution.
PM Oli sought a confidence vote as per article 100 (a) of the constitution.
Meanwhile, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari is preparing to issue an invitation to political parties to form a majority government.
