KATHMANDU: CPN-UML’s Nepal-Khanal faction has clarified that the lawmakers elected through proportional vote will not resign if ever the party lawmakers decide to resign to foil Prime Minister and party chairman KP Oli.
According to sources, the Nepal-Khanal faction has made up its mind to foil PM Oli’s plan to seek a vote of confidence from the special session of the parliament on May 10.
After some lawmakers elected through the proportional method have started clarifying they would not be resigning, the disgruntled faction of UML led by Madhav Kumar Nepal has clarified that only the lawmakers directly elected from the people are likely to resign.
Accordingly, lawmakers Ram Kumari Jhankri, Mukunda Neupane, Kalyani Kumari Khadka, Binadevi Budhathoki Magar, Niradevi Jairu, Laxmi Kumari Chaudhary, Ganga Chaudhary Satgauwa, Pushpa Kumari Karna Yadav, Samina Hussain, Sarala Kumari Yadav and Kalila Khan will not resign.
However, 24 lawmakers including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Dr. Bhim Rawal, Surendra Pandey, Yogesh Bhattarai, Gokarna Bista, Ghanashyam Bhusal will resign to further mount pressure on PM and party Chairman Oli.
