NA begins construction of house for tornado victims

PHETA: Nepal Army (NA) has begun construction of houses for tornado-hit villagers in Bara and Parsa districts on Saturday.

The reconstruction began under the people’ housing project launched at once from 12 places in the districts.

NA has been assigned to construct 1362 houses in Bara and 92 in Parsa district. The houses would be handed over by coming mid-August.


The government has allocated Rs 79 million to NA for reconstructing the houses damaged by the tornado.

It is estimated that a house having three rooms would cost half a million rupees to construct. As many as 3,000 army persons including technicians would be mobilized for the project.

The storm reflecting the features of tornado occurred on March 31 had claimed the lives of 28 persons from Bara and Parsa districts.
