COVID-positive lawmakers also to attend May 10 HoR session: Parliament Secretariat



KATHMANDU: The Parliament Secretariat has said lawmakers testing positive for COVID-19 would also be present in the House of Representatives (HoR) session on May 10.

As many as 25 HoR members, including few ministers, have tested positive in PCR tests conducted by the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday and Thursday. As many as 1,134 swabs were collected for parliament’s May 10 session, where Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is to take a vote of confidence.

The Secretariat said arrangement would be done to include COVID-positive lawmakers to vote in the HoR.

Two dozen lawmakers, including Tourism Minister Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Women and Children and Senior Citizens Minister Julie Mahato, have contracted the coronavirus infection.

A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee on Sunday will decide on the voting process for the infected parliamentarians, according to the Parliament Secretariat..
