COVID-19: Number of districts under prohibitory orders climbs to 62

Full prohibitory orders in 49 and partial in 13 districts



KATHMANDU: With the increasing cases of COVID-19, the government has imposed prohibitory orders in as many as 62 districts so far.

Of them, full prohibitory orders have been imposed in 49 districts while partial orders have been clamped in 13 districts, said Janak Raj Dahal, the spokesperson at the Home Ministry.

As the government enforced prohibitory orders in the Kathmandu Valley since April 29 to contain the spread of the second wave of COVID-19, other districts reeling under higher risk of coronavirus are following the suit.

According to the Ministry, prohibitory orders have been enforced in Banke, Surkhet, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Kailali, Parsa, Dang, Kanchanpur, Palpa, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Baglung, Bardia, Salyan, Sunsari, Darchula, Jajarkot, Rukum Paschim, Dadheldhura, Jhapa, Morang and Chitwan, Siraha, Mugu, Bara, Sindhupalchowk, Ilam, Dhankuta, Dolakha, Bajhang, Gulmi, Shankhuwasabha and Rautahat.

Similarly, Pyuthan, Kavrepalanchwok, Gorkha, Bajura, Udayapur, Makawanpur, Bajhang, Kalikot, Syangja, Kapilvastu, Ramechappa, Taplejung, Baitadi, Nuwakot, Dhanusa, Mahottari, Dolpa, Doti, Nawalparashi East, Nawalparasi West Dailekh, Arghakhanchi, Myagdi, Tanahun, Achham, Humla, Dhading and Rolpa districts also have put in place prohibitory orders.

Among them, Baglung, Morang, Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhupalchowk, Makawanpur, Gorkha, Kalikot, Syangja, Ramechhap, Taplejung, Tanahun, Myagdi, Ilam, and Dhankuta have partial prohibitory orders, said the Ministry.

The government has entrusted respective Chief District Officers (CDOs) with the responsibility to issue prohibitory orders on the basis of necessity in their districts to prevent and control the pandemic.

The government has directed CDOs of the respective districts to impose prohibitory orders in the Kathmandu Valley and Tarai districts with 500 COVID-19 cases and in hilly and mountainous districts with 200 cases.
