Lockdown in Delhi extended by one more week



NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has extended the lockdown by another week in the wake of the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the Indian capital.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Lockdown in Delhi is being extended by one week.”

According to him, the lockdown in the Indian capital city will now continue till 5 am on May 10.

As per the order, during lockdown, essential services like medicine shops, vegetable shops, groceries, etc. will be allowed, but shop owners and customers will have to ensure social distancing, India Today said.

Delhi has seen a rapid rise in Covid-19 cases, resulting in an acute shortage of hospital beds, according to the report.

For days, hospitals have been complaining of a shortage of oxygen to treat patients, according to India Today.
