Former Vice Chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University Bidur Poudel passes away

Kathmandu: Former Vice Chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University and former Member of National Assembly Bidur Poudel died Saturday morning at the age of 77 due to stroke.

His nephew Rohit Poudel informed that he developed a stroke after he received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on April 24 and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal for treatment.

Poudel, a former central member of the Nepali Congress and former managing member of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, had been living with his nephew Parameshwar at his residence in Guheshwari.

Unmarried Poudel was the eldest of six brothers. According to family sources, Poudel was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat this morning.

Poudel, a virtuous and sincere leader, had taught at the Sanskrit University’s Valmiki Vidyapeeth for a long time. He later became a member of the National Assembly.

He was opposed to the government’s decision to allow members of parliament to use Prado and Pajero vehicles for convenience at the time.
