CCMC team visits TIA to aware officials about COVID appropriate behavior

KATHMANDU: Officials of COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) have inspected Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Thursday amid the prohibitory order.

The government has kept air services open despite the ban on vehicles and the movement of people.

CCMC officials made the visit to ensure the implementation of health safety protocols at TIA amid the second wave of COVID-19 infection, which has prompted the government to enforce prohibitory order in the first place.

Coordinator of CCMC Secretariat Dr Khagraj Baral said, “This is an awareness visit. If a situation arises in which TIA becomes the site of COVID-19 transmission then we will have to suspend air services too.”

He warned TIA is a vulnerable place from where the virus could easily spread and urged TIA officials to strictly abide by health safety protocols to check the spread of the virus.
