NC lawmaker Thapa urges govt to take initiative for US support for pandemic

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) central working committee (CWC) member and lawmaker Gagan Thapa has urged the government to take the initiative to receive the COVID-19 vaccine support from the US government.

Urging the government to take necessary steps required to receive the US grant coming in the form of coronavirus vaccines, lawmaker Thapa tweeted Wednesday that the US government is providing about 60 million doses of COVID-19 worldwide.

He has also requested the US Embassy in Kathmandu to cooperate in bringing the vaccine to Nepal.

Responding to NC leader Thapa’s tweet, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has thanked Thapa and informed that the government has already initiated an action to this end.

“Thank you for your suggestions,” tweeted Minister Gyawali in response to Thapa’s tweet, adding, “A necessary process has been taken forward in this regard.”
