20 detainees in Kailali test positive for coronavirus

TIKAPUR: Twenty detainees in District Police Office here have contracted coronavirus.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Bahadur Chaudhari informed that among 64 persons who undergone the PCR test, 20 detainees were found positive.

The infected ones have now been kept in separate isolation and efforts are underway to conduct PCR tests on other detainees and police persons, Chaudhari added.

Meanwhile, Tikapur Province Hospital has prepared a 20-bed isolation ward with an oxygen facility.

The hospital intensified preparedness in view of the spread of coronavirus.

Medical Superintendent at the hospital Dr Rem Kumar Rai informed that they equipped the hospital as per its capacity to avoid untoward incidents. He however said they lacked adequate human resources.

On Monday alone, 11 out of 12 persons admitted to the emergency ward were found positive for the coronavirus.

More than 400 people visit the hospital for treatment every day.
