PM takes briefing to decide on lockdown



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has taken a briefing on the situation and the efforts being made to control the situation of COVID-19.

The Covid-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC), headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel, briefed Prime Minister Oli on all efforts, and the situation after the Covid-19 infection spread rapidly.

The participants in the meeting said that the meeting was held to discuss the current situation and the strategy to be followed by the government. It has also been suggested that the best way to control and seal the border.

CCMC suggests that the number of people coming should be reduced. Participants suggested PM Oli go for lockdown as soon as possible.

However, Ganesh Pandey, Press Adviser to Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel, said that it was only a matter of informing about the current situation and there was no recommendation on whether to lockdown or not.

He clarified that all the stakeholders have informed the Prime Minister about the latest situation.

The CCMC has informed the Prime Minister about the alarming situation in the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.

Medical experts from the Ministry of Health and Population have suggested that the CCMC should impose a lockdown.

The Ministry of Health has already recommended to the CCMC to impose a lockdown in the Kathmandu Valley as the COVID-19 infection is increasing day by day.

Experts have suggested border regulation, checks, and lockdowns, saying that more than 300,000 people in neighboring India have been infected daily with coronavirus, which has also likely to create a panic situation in Nepal.
