NEPALGUNJ: District COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (DCCMC), Banke has requested the Ministry of Health to send a medical team to Nepalgunj.

The DCCMC Banke’s meeting held on Saturday has requested the Ministry to provide the technical support to combat the wide-spreading pandemic in Nepalgunj.

“With the increase in the coronavirus cases, we have written the Ministry of Health to support us with medical team and other technical help to combat against the pandemic,” Shivaram Gelal, the Chief District Officer of Banke said.

Gelal informed that the DCCMC has intensified the arrangement for the hospital beds, quarantine and other facilities required to face the pandemic.

However, he added that the increasing cases show the existing manpower working at Bheri Hospital and Medical College Kohalpur might be insufficient soon.

The administration has made arrangements to increase the number of beds in Bheri and Kohalpur Medical Colleges in Nepalgunj to 200 each.

Similarly, it has sought Rs. 100 million and Rs. 50 million from the federal and province government respectively for the set up and operation of the hospitals as COVID-19 hospitals.

The Committee has also sought help from the local levels as well.

Meanwhile, alarmed at the number of active cases in the area, Kohalpur Municipality has also decided to lock down from Sunday. The number of coronavirus patients in Kohalpur has exceeded two hundred.

Any municipality can take appropriate steps for management after the number of infected exceeds 200.
