KATHMANDU: Nepal’s high mountains, including Mt. Everest, have always lured foreigners. Conquering the world’s highest peak is a lifelong dream for any climbers. Mt Everest, 8,848 meters, brings hundreds of adventure aspirants from around the world.
This Himalayan country has always been an exciting playground for adventure tourists and trekkers since Nepal, sandwiched between two giant neighbors — India and China — offers an assortment of exhilarating opportunities.
The only thing is one has to have the obsession and the urge to discover Nepal’s terrain, and understand the ecology or learn about its distinct geography.

Meanwhile, a total of 616 mountaineers from 42 countries, including Nepal have obtained the permit to climb as many as 20 mountain peaks including Mt Everest, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) this season.
So far, a total of 42 Nepali women have scaled the Mt. Everest. Pasang Lhamu Sherpa reached the world’s highest summit on April 22, 1993, becoming the first Nepali woman to conquer the third pole.
Likewise, Lhakpa Sherpa of Sankhuwasabha holds the record among the Nepali women scaling the Mt. Everest nine times. She reached the top in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
According to the record maintained by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, as many as 18 women scaled the world’s highest peak in 2018, the highest record ever.
Likewise, Kami Rita Sherpa has carved a niche in this sector. He has climbed Mt. Everest, the world’s highest peak for 22 times — between 13th of May 1994 to 16th May 2018.
Similarly, Phurba Tashi Sherpa, 48, has scaled Mt. Everest 21 times.
Jangbu Sherpa, 37, is currently climbing the world’s highest peak for the 16th time – this time with a mission. Sherpa will be hoisting the Khabarhub flag at the top of the world.
