JANAKPURDHAM: The lawmakers of Province 2 Assembly have criticized the government for its slow and ineffective response against the wide spreading pandemic.
“Had the government taken heed the threat of pandemic in time, the second wave of coronavirus could not have spread the terror reign so long,” CPN-UML lawmaker Sundar Bahadur Bishwakarma said.
He regretted that despite the coronavirus conflagration there are not enough isolation and quarantine set up in the province.
Similarly, Nepali Congress lawmaker in the province, Ram Saroj Yadav said that the state government has not paid attention to the news that more than 330,000 people have been found infected in neighboring India. He added that a new variant of coronavirus has entered Nepal due to open and unmanaged border.
He expressed sadness that the government has not set up COVID-19 hospital till date despite seeing the terror the virus has spread in the neighboring country.
“The province government does not have enough employees and even those who are working have not got the salaries and allowances promised during first phase of coronavirus spread,” Yadav said, adding, “Billions of rupees have been spent haphazardly.”
He wished the government had at least managed the border.
Likewise, CPN-Maoist Center leader Dilip Kumar Sah objected to the province government’s neglect at a time when the world was once again under the pandemic attack.
However, ruling Janata Samjbadi Party lawmaker Rani Sharma Tiwari, defended the province government’s move and remarked that the problem was due to the absence of a secretary in the concerned ministry. The bureaucrats are deployed by the federal government. Echoing Sharma lawmaker Dr. Rina Yadav lamented the lack of manpower even though the province had a coronavirus testing equipment.
