NC waiting for “right time” to file no-confidence motion against PM Oli

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) party is still undecided whether or not to file a no-confidence against Prime Minister KP Oli.

The party has said it is waiting for the “right time” to file the motion against PM Oli.

NC sources said that the party would wait for a week and see how things unfold.

“We are waiting for the right time, and it may take a week or so to make a decision,” an NC leader said.

The party held a meeting of the office-bearers on Wednesday afternoon at Deuba’s residence in Budanilakantha to decide its future course of action.

The source said they are “closely analyzing” the current political developments and the ongoing talks between Prime Minister KP Oli and CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Meanwhile, the party is also waiting for the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) — divided on whether to support PM Oli or not — to come up with a clear position about the no-confidence motion.

It should be noted that the winter session of the House of Representatives has ended at a time when the parties, including the NC, the CPN (Maoist Center), and a faction of the JSP were working to register a no-confidence motion against PM Oli.
