Ready to bear any risk for good of nation: Speaker Sapkota

KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Agni Prasad Sapkota has said he will not do any work that goes against the nation and citizens.

Speaking at a ceremony organized to hand over responsibilities to new executive committee of Federation of Nepali Journalists Sunday, Speaker Sapkota said he was committed to working in favor of the nation and citizens as per the oath he swore in till he was the head of HoR.

“I am ready to make necessary sacrifice and bear any risk to work in favor of the country. Any kind of pressure and influence won’t deviate me from working for the country and citizens,” he said.

He said he has been working out of his own volition, unaffected by external exertions and influences, in a reference to Prime Minister KP Oli’s warnings thrown at him.

Mentioning that few persons could elude many for a while but not forever, he said the HoR was being hounded after its restoration.

Committing himself to democratic norms and value, the Speaker said he will do his best to run the parliament effectively.
