Cabinet meeting likely to discuss CCMC’s proposal today



KATHMANDU: The cabinet meeting has been called this evening at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.

The meeting will discuss further steps to be taken by the government to control the increasing risk of the new variant of COVID-19 infection.

A meeting of the CCMC chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel on Saturday had recommended an 11-point proposal to the Council of Ministers for the latest risk control.

The meeting will discuss the CCMC’s recommendation. CCMC has recommended new criteria including three-week school closure in urban areas including Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Pradip Gyawali and Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi are holding telephone conversations with their Indian counterparts about the supply of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Government spokesman Parbat Gurung said the government was focused on controlling the second wave of COVID-19.
