NC CWC meeting postponed

KATHMANDU: A meeting of Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee (CWC) scheduled for 2 pm has been postponed.

The meeting was scheduled to be held at the central party office in Sanepa to dwell on the upcoming 14th general convention of the party, according to Krishna Prasad Paudel, the chief secretary at the NC’s central party office.

The meeting was postponed to mourn the death of NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel’s half-brother Govinda Raj Poudel, who passed away on Monday.

The meeting which was originally called for Friday had been rescheduled for today.

Earlier, an officer-bearers meeting held on Sunday  which was supposed to formally prepare the agenda for today’s CWC meeting, failed to do so since President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel abstained from the meeting, according to an NC leader.

Today’s meeting was likely to change the schedule of the party’s upcoming general convention since the active membership distribution row has not ended as yet.

It was learnt that the meeting was scheduled to discuss the latest political developments and preparations for a new power-sharing and the meetings held with the other political parties.
