NC officials meet centered around party’s 14 general convention

KATHMANDU: A meeting of Nepali Congress (NC) officer bearers and ex-office bearers held on Sunday afternoon at party central office in Sanepa centered on the party’s 14th general convention.

The meeting progressed in the absence of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel. Deuba could not attend the meeting due to his busy schedule while Poudel is in Tanahun.

The meeting pondered on changes to the general convention calendar. NC has decided to hold its 14th general convention in August this year.

According to NC central office Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel, the meeting also discussed issues related to distribution and renewal of active memberships, and inclusion of new members, who have joined the party.

NC Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi briefed NC officials about works done and problems faced by the party’s inclusion committee.

Likewise, Ramesh Lekhak outlined the challenges faced in distribution of active memberships. Lekhak is the coordinator of NC active membership probe committee. Office bearers were of the view that representative from the center could visit the districts where distributing active memberships was problematic.

Office bearers and ex-office bearers also dealt with agendas for Monday’s Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting. Secretary Poudel said Deuba and leader Poudel will attend tomorrow’s (Monday) CWC meeting.
