SC refuses to hear petition seeking PM take trust vote

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has refused to conduct a hearing on a petition that demanded Prime Minister KP Oli to seek a vote of confidence in the parliament.

Advocates Asmita Gautam Poudel and Kirti Nath Sharma filed a petition at the SC saying that the PM should seek a vote of confidence after the unification of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) was declared void.

SC Chief Registrar Lal Bahadur Kunwar refused to register the petition on April 6. A review was filed against Kunwar’s decision.

A hearing conducted on the review Thursday sided with the Chief Registrar’s decision.

Justice Bom Kumar Shrestha today upheld Kunwar’s decision after hearing arguments from the petitioners.
