Gyawali asks HoR why govt-tabled proposals aren’t making progress

KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali has questioned the House of Representatives (HoR) why it had not moved forward several proposals tabled by the government.

Responding to lawmakers’ queries in the HoR on Monday, he said the government provided the House with adequate business but the House failed to discuss government-given business.

Refuting allegation that the government was not providing any business to the HoR, Minister Gyawali said, “Why hasn’t the parliament endorsed several treaties registered by the government in the lower house?” He added, “HoR lawmakers must provide clarification.”

He informed that various international treaties, including agreements signed with International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA) and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), among others, were tabled by the government in the parliament. However, the minister said the HoR was holding them hostage.
