Chinese COVID-19 vaccine to be inoculated from April 7

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to inoculate China-produced COVID-19 vaccine ‘Vero Cell’ from April 7.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Jageshwor Gautam, informed that the vaccine is planned to be administered only in Kathmandu Valley hospitals and state-level hospitals.

The ministry had earlier decided to vaccinate people in the age group of 40 to 59 years with ‘Vero Cell’ vaccine.

The 800,000 doses of vaccine produced by the Chinese vaccine company Sinopharm had arrived in Nepal on March 29.

He said that priority will be given to those visiting China, especially students going for study, and those going for business.
