Halted Beni-Jomsom road resumes

KATHMANDU: The Beni-Jomsom road that links Mustang with the national highway has restarted today allowing vehicles.

Transportation along the road was halted since March 27 to widen the road, said the construction project’s information officer Ashwoni Kumar Yadav.

As part of the project, the construction company, Sharma-Gajurmukhi JV started blasting off cliffs since four months, he said. Upgrading of the 76 kilometers Beni-Jomsom road under the national pride Kaligandaki corridor has taken place in four packages.

The upgradation of Beni-Jomsom-Korala started since 2074 BS with estimated budget worth approximately Rs 6 billion.

Gravelling 110 kilometers Jomsom-Korala road is underway. Sixty percent work on the Beni-Jomsom road has been completed, said Yadav.
