UML Nepal-Khanal faction to declare ‘party restructuring campaign’ Saturday

KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee (SC) of the disgruntled faction of CPN-UML has concluded by deciding to declare ‘party structures strengthening and expansion campaign’ Saturday.

A meeting of the SC of the Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal held in Kathmandu Friday has also reached a conclusion to take the Political Resolution, which was finalized by national cadres’ meet on March 17-18, among party cadres.

The SC meeting of Nepal-Khanal faction also condemned and protested the UML decision of suspending leaders Ghanashyam Bhusal and Surendra Pandey, who face suspension of six month. Leader Nepal and Bhim Rawal were also suspended earlier.

Leader Yogesh Bhattarai, of Nepal-Khanal faction, said the action taken against four leaders violated the UML constitution endorsed through the 9th General Convention. Stating that UML Chairman KP Oli’s decision to suspend the leaders was prejudiced, Bhattarai said, “We regret and condemn our party chair for he wants to divide the party.”

Earlier, Leader Bhim Rawal had left the SC meeting halfway, citing urgent matters to tend to. While leaving the meeting venue, he told the media that party Chair and PM Oli was the illegal chair of 10th general convention organizing committee.
