Government forms team to hold talks with Tharu Welfare Assembly



KATHMANDU: The government has formed a talks team headed by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal” to hold talks with the Tharu Welfare Assembly.

Government Spokesperson and Minister of Information Parbat Gurung said that the team has been formed under the coordination of the Home Minister Thapa to address the 19-point demands put forth by the Tharu Welfare Assembly, Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee, and Central Movement Mobilization Committee.

The members of the team include Rajan Bhattarai, foreign affairs advisor to Prime Minister KP Oli, and Bhagwati Chaudhary, a former lawmaker.

Minister Gurung has said that talks will be held today.

The Assembly has been demanding the release of Resham Chaudhary, a former lawmaker, from jail.
