CPN-Maoist Center forms committee to hold talks with defecting MPs

KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) has formed a task force to hold dialogue with lawmakers who were elected using the party’s election symbol and now have defected to the CPN-UML.

The meeting of the Parliamentary Party of the Maoist Center held in Singha Durbar Tuesday has formed a three-member task force for the purpose.

The task force comprises Dev Prasad Gurung, Barsha Man Pun and Haribol Gajurel.

“The task force will first discuss with the leaders who have joined Prime Minister KP Oli led CPN-UML, and update the party about their further plans,” a lawmaker of the party said. “Further action against them will be taken after the report of the task force.”

Nearly two dozen leaders of erstwhile Maoist Center have been nominated to the Central Committee in PM Oli led UML.

The incumbent government has got seven former Maoist Ministers, including Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Prabhu Shah and Lekh Raj Bhatt.
