Government not in mood to mobilize Parliament: NC leader Khand

KATHMANDU: Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress Bal Krishna Khand said the government led by the ruling party CPN-UML was not in the mood to effectively mobilize the Parliament.

Khand said so following the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the House of Representatives (HoR) at the Federal Parliament Secretariat, in Singha Durbar, Monday.

Talking to the media after the BAC meeting, Khand said though the HoR is convening Tuesday the government is yet to submit agendas for the meeting.

“The government is not serious towards mobilizing parliamentarians. The government had also unusually ended the HoR’s budget session. Likewise, the government dissolved the HoR when it was set to convene its winter session,” Khand said.

He clarified that the NC had obstructed the last HoR session after the government tabled an ordinance related to Constitutional Council amendment as they deemed it against the spirit of the constitution.

“The government, however, it seems is not even serious about tabling other ordinances for discussion in the House,” he added.
