Maoist Center to hold talks with NC, JSP on power-sharing

Meeting postponed until further notice



KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to expedite talks with the Nepali Congress and the Janata Samajwadi Party for government formation.

A meeting of the party Central Committee held at its central party office in Paris Danda on Monday decided to expedite talks with the two major parties on power-sharing.

As many as 20 parliamentarians of the CPN ( Maoist Center) put forward their views at Monday’s meeting.

The lawmakers speaking on the occasion include Janardan Sharma, Barsha Man Pun, Pampha Bhusal, Ansari Gharti Magar and Om Sharma, among others.

The meeting discussed amendment to the party statute to reform the organizational structure, power-sharing, among other issues, party sources said.

Today’s meeting did not fix the date for the next meeting.

Meanwhile, a CC meeting of the party on Sunday held at the party office in Paris Danda had approved the party’s decision to recall all the ministers (former Maoist leaders) currently in the Prime Minister KP Oli-led cabinet.

During Sunday’s meeting the province leaders had reported about the status of the party in their respective provinces.

Meanwhile, a proposal of changing the party’s name had entered as an agenda in Sunday’s Central Committee meeting of the party, a central member said.
