Defecting leader rejoins Maoist Center

SURKHET: A Maoist Center leader who had defected to the UML has returned to the party.

Karnali Province Assembly member Thammar Bista, who was nominated by Prime Minister KP Oli to UML’s central committee a few days ago, rejoined the Maoist Center, according to National Assembly member Maya Prasad Sharma, who represents the CPN-MC.

Bista was elected to Karnali Province Assembly on CPN-MC ticket from Surkhet.

“Bista reached CPN-MC Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence Sunday morning pledging his allegiance to the party,” said Sharma.

PM Oli had nominated two Maoist leaders from Karnali Province Assembly to UML central committee. The other leader nominated to the UML central committee is Dharma Raj Regmi, who is also given the responsibility of UML secretary for Karnali Province.

Though Oli camp is still in talks with Bista, he has officially returned to the Maoist Center, said Sharma.
