Maoist Center Central Committee membership cut down to 200



KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) has decided to cut the size of its Central Committee (CC) from 4,000 members to 200.

Addressing Sunday’s CC meeting held in the party office at Paris Danda, Koteshwor, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said the Central Committee membership would be maintained at 200 for now.

After the UML and the Maoist Center merged into Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on May 17, 2018, the Maoist Center was represented by 200 members in the 445-strong NCP (NCP) Central Committee. Prior to the unification, the Maoist Center’s had 4,000 members in its Central Committee.

Sunday’s CC meet saw participation of 185 leaders of the party.

The meeting also concluded that defection of leaders such as Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Lekh Raj Bhatta, Prabhu Sah, among others, had made no difference to the party.
