Maoist Center’s CC meeting concludes; to meet again on Monday

Endorses party's decision to recall its ministers

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee (CC) meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center) led by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda has concluded.

The four-hour-long meeting of the party held at the party office in Paris Danda has been scheduled again for 11 am Monday, party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said..

The meeting also approved the party’s decision to recall all the ministers (former Maoist leaders) currently in the Prime Minister KP Oli-led cabinet.

During Sunday’s meeting the province leaders had reported about the status of the party in their respective provinces.

Meanwhile, a proposal of changing the party’s name had entered as an agenda in today’s Central Committee meeting of the party, a central member said.

An amendment to the party statute for reformations in the organizational structure, power-sharing and actions against 23 Maoist Center leaders including Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa who defected to the CPN-UML were also the agenda of the meeting.

Today’s meeting was said to take action against those who joined the CPN-UML by abandoning the Maoist Center.

It should be noted that CPN-UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Oli convened a CC meeting on Friday (March 12) and nominated 23 former leaders of the Maoist Center to the central committee of the CPN-UML, leaving the disgruntled faction in the dark. Of them, seven are ministers in the Oli-led cabinet.

Issuing a 24-hour ultimatum, a CC meeting of the Maoist Center held on March 29 had called back its ministers participating in the Oli-led cabinet.

If the actions are taken against these representatives, they will lose the post of lawmakers as per the provision laid down in the Political Party Act, 2017.
