UML leader Gautam intensifies party unification campaign

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Bam Dev Gautam has intensified a party unification campaign after the ruling UML headed towards the verge of split following the Supreme Court (SC)’s verdict.

Gautam has been dissatisfied with party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Oli after the latter unilaterally reformed party committees and reshuffled responsibilities of the leaders after Nepal-Khanal faction returned to the party.

Leaders of Nepal-Khanal faction returned to their mother party after the Supreme Court’s restored erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) revoking their unification as the Nepal Communist Party.

Holding a meeting of the National Unification Campaign on Saturday, Gautam lashed out at party chairman Oli for his constitutional move and warned that he would launch a nation-wide demonstration against him.
