CPN-UML rival factions clash over nameplates



DHANGADI: CPN-UML cadres — aligning with rival factions — have scuffled in CPN-UML Sudurpaschim Province Office in Dhangadi on Wednesday.

They clashed over placement of the party’s signboard and nameplates of party office bearers.

A group favoring senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal had placed the signboard and nameplates of office bearers at the party’s provincial office early in the morning on Wednesday.

The fight ensued as the group close to party Chair KP Sharma Oli’s started pulling down name plates installed by Nepal-camp in the afternoon.

Oli faction had installed the nameplate bearing Lekhraj Bhatta’s name outside the office of the party’s province in-charge.

Likewise, they placed the name plate of Karna Bahadur Thapa outside the office of provincial chair.

Bhim Rawal is the party’s Sudurpaschim Province in-charge and Bhanubhakta Joshi is the province chair.

Police have stepped up security outside the CPN-UML Sudurpaschim Province Office in Dhangadi after the incident.
