KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav has expressed his commitments to abide by the three-point peace agreement in a letter and spirit.
Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony at Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) in Kathmandu on Friday, General Secretary Chand said he will fully comply with the agreement reached with the government and expected the same from the government side, too.
In the jam-packed City Hall, Biplav said today is the historic day of political movements and vowed that his party will pursue political activities in the country based on the peace deal sealed with the government in the days ahead.
He had spoken for around 18 minutes.
Prime Minister KP Oli and leader of the once “outlawed” group “Biplav” on Friday had shared the same stage to witness the signing of the peace deal that brought the rebel group to peaceful politics.
Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal” and Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma “Prakanda”, who is also the spokesperson of the Nepal Communist Party led by Biplav signed an agreement at a jampacked hall of Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) in Kathmandu Friday afternoon.
According to the agreement, the Biplav-led Nepal Communist Party has agreed to pursue peaceful politics by renouncing violent activities.
Likewise, the government has agreed to lift the ban imposed against the group, and release all prisoners and scrap cases filed against its leaders.
Similarly, the group has agreed to resolve its political demands through negotiations.
