NC holding PP meeting at 1 pm today

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) holding its Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting on Friday.

To be held at Lhotse Hall of the federal parliament building in New Baneshwor at 1 pm, the meeting will discuss three options to deal with the current imbroglio.

A office-bearers’ meeting of the NC held on Thursday chalked out three options – to form the new government in alliance with one of the factions of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), to form a national consensus government under the leadership of NC or to lend support for the formation of the government led by Prachanda.

Even though NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has publicly stated that he will not back off if he is given the responsibility to lead the government, he has not formally discussed it in the party.

Senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel faction is not favor of joining the government but in extending support to Prachanda-Nepal faction for the formation of the new government.

Similarly, some NC leaders are in favor of the national consensus government led by NC.

NC leaders will dwell on these options in the PP meeting today, said NC’s central office’s chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel.
