Rs 800,000 seized from Mayor’s vehicle in Dhanusha



JANAKPUR: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has seized eight hundred thousand rupees from a mayor’s vehicle in Dhanusha.

According to CIAA sources, the CIAA team arrested the driver of Dambar Bahadur Raut, the Mayor of Bateshwor Rural Municipality, Dhanusha with the alleged bribe money on Monday evening.

The CIAA said Mayor Raut had demanded Rs 10,000 for the release of the unspent money to various projects working in the Municipality.

Alarmed at the news that CIAA team is conducting a raid on his vehicle, Mayor Raut ran away from the vehicle deserting both his vehicle and the money.

The Dhanusha Police is hunting absconding Mayor Raut.
