NC objects to KU’s MBBS affiliation to B&C



KATHMANDU: Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has taken strong exception to Kathmandu University’s decision to grant affiliation for MBBS at B&C College in Jhapa.

Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, Education Department of NC has objected to the decision to grant affiliation to a college at the direct interference of the Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha irrespective of fulfilling the procedures and criteria required for such permission.

“NC’s Education Department is concerned with the Kathmandu University’s decision to grant affiliation to B&C College to run MBBS without following the due procedure for it,” reads the press release, “It is regrettable that the government has breached the rules, regulations, procedures and agreements meant for ensuring the quality of medical education.”

NC has warned the Education Minister Shrestha and the government not to trespass the autonomy of the University.
