Fire at Solu FM guts property worth Rs 10 mln



SOLUKHUMBU: A fire has broken out at Solu FM 101.2 megahertz, the first ever community radio in Pradesh 1.

The fire broke out at the studio of the community radio based in Solududhkunda municipality-6, Dorpu Bazaar at the wee hours of Monday.

The fire which started from the studio spread to the recording section before destroying the FM building, said District Police Office, Solukhumbu.

Properties worth around Rs 10 million were gutted in the fire. A short circuit is likely to be the cause of fire, said Buddhi Narayan Shrestha, the chairman of the radio operation executive committee.

The fire was brought under control with the help of fire-engine of the municipality, armed police force, Nepal Police, Nepal Army, locals and radio staffers.

Established in 2061 BS, Solu FM has currently been operating in the capacity of 1000 watt.
