Bansbari misses chance to go second, Pulchok and Shree Bhagwati shares points

KATHMANDU: Around the Himalaya Bansbari Club missed a chance to go second in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘B’ Division League with a goalless draw with Shree Kumari Club on Saturday.

In the second match of the day, Bansbari’s goalkeeper Roshan Nepal had an excellent day between the post as his saves ensured Bansbari walk away with at least a point from today’s game.

Shree Kumari could have won the match in the added minutes of the game but Santosh Kumar Singh’s goal-bound header was palmed away by Nepal.

Bansbari’s coach Yugal Kishor Rai said they should be satisfied with the style they have been playing.

“We have developed a short-passing style play but you can’t win points unless you win matches. We had devised a plan to stop their forward and we did that well but we could not score when chances came,” said Rai.

Shree Kumari’s coach Sandesh Kumar Shrestha said they should have won the game but goals eluded them. “We played well and created chances but we missed all of them. Our forwards should have scored at least a couple of goals today,” said Shrestha.

The first match between Pulchok Sports Club and Shree Bhagwati Club also ended goalless.

Both the teams had created few chances but were unable to score to break the deadlock.

Pulchok’s coach Mangal Maharjan said they had played good first half but came under pressure in the second.

“Some of my players are injured and those played in their place came under pressure especially in the second half.

We were also not lethal in front of goal,” said Maharjan.

Shree Bhagwati’s coach Sailesh Karmacharya said they have roped in few new players and they will take some time to gel with the team.

“I hope our performance will improve further in coming matches once my team gets fully set. We were also unlucky in today’s game as we struck the bar thrice despite holding the possession,” said Karmacharya.

Pulchok lies at the bottom of the table with two points from seven matches. Shree Bhagwati is ninth with the sixth point from seven matches.
