KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli on Friday dismissed Dev Gurung as Chief Whip of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

Bishal Bhattarai has been assigned responsibility in place of Gurung, said Press Adviser to Prime Minister Oli, Surya Thapa.

Gurung is a Standing Committee member of the NCP Prachanda-Nepal faction.

Bhattarai was elected MP from Khotang in the last general election.
