HoR reinstatement helps consolidate democracy: DLA

KATHMANDU: Nepal Democratic Lawyers’ Association has said the Supreme Court’s verdict on restoration of House of Representatives (HoR) would help consolidate democracy in Nepal.

Issuing a press statement, the DLA said the SC decision to cancel the unconstitutional move of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to dissolve HoR help bring the constitution and politics back to track.

“The verdict has contributed to constitutionalism, rule of law and sustainable democracy in Nepal,” said DLA General Secretary Laxmi Devi Dahal Rawal in a press statement.

The DLA, in the very beginning, had made its view public that the dissolution of HoR by PM Oli on December 20 was not only unconstitutional but also non-parliamentary practice.

“The historic verdict has further restored the image of Nepali judiciary and earned public trust. Even the legal practitioners have felt proud with the decision,” she reiterated.
