Boutique, deluxe hotels to be recognised as ‘star’ hotels

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to recognize boutique and deluxe hotels as the ‘star’ hotels.

The Department of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has fixed symbols for such hotels after classification. Prior to this, only hotels with advanced facilities were recognized as ‘star’ hotels.

‘Star’ has been fixed as the symbol for all resorts, existing star hotels and boutique hotels of all standards.

Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) first vice chair Binayak Shah said new provisions would be for offering services to clients in an easier way and this was the worldwide practice as well.

Besides, it would contribute to stratification and strengthening of hotels.

The HAN lobbied for this move, according to him. RSS
