Nepali man ordered to leave for New Zealand for attacking another Nepali

KATHMANDU: A Nepali man has been ordered to leave New Zealand or risk deportation after attacking another Nepali man.

According to media reports, Paras Bhandari, 24, was convicted of assault and of threatening to kill in July 2020.

The court heard he had attacked his victim, another Nepali national, because he had been relaying Bhandari’s movements – “including drinking and partying, which are frowned upon in Nepal” – back to his parents and partner, stuff.co.nz reported.

Bhandari pushed him into a wall and hit him around the face and head until he lost consciousness.

If Bhandari wished to avoid being deported, he should either leave within those 28 days or apply for a temporary visa if he cannot immediately get flights back to Nepal due to Covid-19, the tribunal said.
